NEET exam is necessary for enrollment of students to both government and private medical colleges in India that award the MBBS, BDS, BUMS, BNYS, BSMS, BPT, BVSc & AH, BHMS, BAMS and BSc. nursing degrees.

NEET was introduced by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India in 2016, with the aim of creating a single, common entrance exam for admissions to medical and dental courses across India. The exam is held once a year in offline mode, and it consists of a single-question paper that includes 180 multiple-choice questions. The questions are based on the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (Botany and Zoology) and are conducted in multiple languages, including English, Hindi, and regional languages.

The NEET result score is used by medical and dental colleges in India to determine admission to undergraduate courses, and it is considered to be one of the most difficult exams in India.

Candidates should be familiar with the fundamentals of the NEET exam before beginning their preparation. Here are some NEET exam tips to aid candidates in their exam preparation:

NEET preparation tips

Understand the syllabus well

The NEET syllabus is extensive, so knowing its precise position is essential for producing the best NEET result. Reduce the amount of unnecessary information and concentrate primarily on the key points. The NCERT Syllabus is also covered in the NEET Exam. If there were common chapters, you wouldn’t have to prepare them individually, which would be very helpful. By this, you’ll have enough time to focus on the areas that weren’t covered.

Make a realistic timetable

Your interest in the topics you study is a crucial component of effective NEET preparation. If you enjoy comprehending concepts and problem-solving, you should try to avoid all outside distractions while concentrating on your studies. Create an effective timetable for the NEET exam and attempt to adhere to it.

Avoid distractions

The greatest distraction in today’s world is a smartphone, so it is common to get distracted while studying for the NEET. The use of a smartphone while studying for the NEET exam is a significant distraction, along with events like parties,  weddings, and social gatherings where students feel pressured to participate. So avoid such distractions in advance.

Use reliable study resources

The most crucial component of any exam preparation is quality study material. It’s essential to use the proper NEET study materials when getting ready for the exam. The best book for NEET 2023 preparation is NCERT, which students have been using for years. Aspirants can speak with NEET instructors and top students, or they can read their conversations and see which books they cited. Students can learn more about the strategies and training techniques used by NEET toppers by watching their interviews.

Focus on subject-specific important topics

Candidates should concentrate on the chapter-by-chapter weightage for the NEET exam, which is determined by analyzing the question papers from the previous year. This will aid in exam preparation. The chapter-based weighting of the NEET exam also enables applicants to gauge the significance of a subject and the number of marks it is expected to receive.

Quickly resolve your doubts

Clear up any doubts as soon as possible. Never put off learning about subjects you are unsure about, and avoid choosing them in the final few days before the exam. If you have any questions or doubts about a particular question, ask your tutors as soon as possible.

Use a few learning resources

Avoid studying NEET chapters from numerous sources, too much study material may confuse an aspirant. Thus, just one or two coaching materials and books will be plenty for the best NEET results. Make quick notes for last-minute revision.

Make mnemonics to remember

Make mnemonics for the things that you tend to forget even after repeated changes. Don’t make forgetting concepts your weakness, instead, strive to overcome it by creating mnemonics. This will help you recall in a single go wherever you are asked.

Solve previous years’ question papers

Students’ NEET exam preparation should also contain sample papers and old exam questions. You can familiarize yourself with the NEET 2023 exam format, question types, and weightage by studying the previous year’s question papers. The NEET/AIPMT question papers from prior years are provided on various sites along with answers.

Conduct regular revisions

With the timer on, you can complete 40–50 questions to revise a specific topic or chapter in all the subjects and become an expert in them. It will simulate an actual exam setting for you to aid in your NEET preparation. After revising the questions, go through the syllabus again using the NCERT textbooks, modules, and class notes. Make essential topics a priority and revise them frequently.

Stay healthy

Healthy living will promote improved brain function. Candidates should allow their brains enough time to relax because, according to doctors, the human brain works best in the morning. Candidates can optimize their brain function by encouraging themselves to study during the day rather than at night.
